7 and a half weeks exploring the United States of America in our hillbilly wagon and we are days away from the journey ending. When we drop off our home on wheels Thursday, we will have put just over 7200 miles traveling through 31 states on this moving machine.
We have had so many laughs and moments when we wanted to run to our rooms and slam the door for some peace and quiet (but we have no rooms …hahah…
* Traveling around the US has taught us so much about the rich history, the birth of this vast country. Seeing the Declaration of Independence was surprisingly awe inspiring. The passion the citizens have for their country is amazing to see from State to State.
* This journey should be called a EAT Everything Trip ~ we have all gained so much weight eating each states signature dish, the most disgusting was the [ tenderloin from Iowa ] – just could not stomach it. The best – to hard to decide
* Traveled down roads with not a soul for miles, in such desolate places in Nebraska and Wyoming is cool and creepy at the same time.
* We have ventured into neighborhoods unbeknownst to us searching for a grocery store we most definitely should not have! One lady was kind enough to tell Emma and I in her strong southern accent “You ladies be careful now.”
* I got pulled over by the police. Can you say ” Meet the Millers” OMG I was driving down the interstate and I hear “MA’AM PLEASE PULL OVER.” No freaking way, I yelled to the kids to get in the seats and put on their seat belts as this could be the only explanation for him pulling me over. NOPE I was instructed to get out of Hilly and walk to the rear of the motorhome. The cop told me to be careful with the big trucks on the road and to have a safe trip. (OK??) I later spoke to a friend of ours in the DEA and he said forsure the state trooper pulled me over to check me out as there are lots of drug running motorhome mules. CRAZY! Kids laughed pretty hard at Meet The Millers (movie)
